Welcome to our website !
Since the owner of the McConnell House, Jason McConnell, (an amazing chef by the way), loves horses so much I thought it would be great to do a horse theme table. Of course I only used vintage props; old worn old cowboy boots, an antique horse weathervane, old spurs, branding irons, old books, etc. Once the props were in place it just seemed fitting to use grasses instead of actual flowers. I thought the tall, airiness of the grasses were perfect for this design. What do you think?

Since the McConnell House was the Williamson County Jail in its former life, I thought it appropriate to do a table scape  with an old jail theme. This was probably the most talked about design of the four tablescaps. I even made a boutonniere using 3 Camel cigarettes, a rose bud and an old skeleton key that looked like a jail key for Jason McConnell, the owner. David made a tiny banner that I attached to the bout. that said "Get Married in Jail". I can't believe we didn't take a photo of him wearing this. A professional photographer took lots of photos of all of the designs so maybe she got one. I'll post all of her better quality photos when they are ready.

In keeping with the jail theme I used some vintage window guards from our shop, City Farmhouse, that looked like fancy jail bars and designed flowers around them. For the centerpiece I made old bean cans out of rusty pipe and labeled them BEANS using a stamp set. Then real beans were strewn around. For the outer part of the table the bars were decorated with old tin cups and small tin lunch pails. All were filled with flowers and foliage of course. The best and most fun part of the table was the photo of a very ugly man, (look at the photos and you'll see what I mean), along with a bridal bouquet with two very cool jail keys attached and - I took letters from a scrabble game and spelled out - "Dear Maw I got married in jail". Everyone loved this. Hope you enjoy the photos. More will come. This was a big event and a very exciting open house for Jason. That building is amazing and architecturally stunning!

Finally, photos from the McConnell House Open House this past week. I had the pleasure of designing 4 theme tables, the mantle in that room and the old jail cage in the bar area.

This was my favorite table - The Story Table - it represented a writer from NYC who fell in love with an artist from Italy who romanced her through messages sent in bottles. The centerpiece was an antique urn filled with a mossy branch to represent the "old moss tree" where the two were to finally meet and marry. I added white roses and green & white foliage to the base of the branch. I included real sand at the base of the urn to simulate the bottles washing ashore.

Many vintage props were used in this design - many old bottles and old letters rolled and tied with twine, an old typewriter, an old window, old eyeglasses, old mirrors, old books, an old painting that I ripped to use on the artist floor and around the bottles. I filled the bottles with letters and flowers of a wild nature (I thought that looked more authentic). We couldn't find an old easel and artist pallet at the last minute so my sweet friend, Clare, who is only 15, and an artist herself, painted them to look old. She painted the boat beneath the urn - as the suitor came to fetch his love in a boat, of course. And, lots of candles. I especially loved the one with wax dripped down the bottle which was beside her typewriter and window for light.
