2015 City Farmhouse Press Releases

CITY FARMHOUSE HOSTS SECOND POP-UP FAIR OF THE YEAR, DRAWS CELEBRITIES AND GUESTS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE
Antique & Design Event in Franklin, Tenn. to Feature 80+ Vendors From Across the Country

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – There’s something about Kim and David Leggetts’ style that draws visitors from around the globe to shop at the City Farmhouse Pop-up Fair, a design and shopping show that hosts dozens of curated vendors in the tiny village of Leiper’s Fork, Tenn.

The Leggett—owners of the popular downtown Franklin antiques shop from where the event derives its name—announced earlier this year that the brand would host three pop-up fairs in 2015, due to mounting popularity. The Fall antiques and vintage show, happening October 16 and 17, will once again take place at the stunning “lost-in-time” gardens and mansion of the late music publisher Buddy Killen, located off Old Hillsboro Road.

City Farmhouse’s holiday pop-up fair, which will round out the series for the year, will take place November 13 through 15 at Liberty Hall at The Factory at Franklin.

The Leggetts, who are nationally recognized “pickers,” say the additional shows were due to both 2014 attendance popularity and their fans’ requests: the pair manage the City Farmhouse Facebook page, which boasts more than 100,000 followers—many of whom lobbied for an additional show.

“The idea of hosting a second show wasn’t ours—it was our friends and fans who pushed us to do it,” Kim Leggett said. “At first we thought it was crazy to try and put on two more shows, but the more we talk about it with our fans, the more encouraged we were do it it.”

As always, City Farmhouse guests can expect to find their treasures while browsing alongside local celebrities who are also fans of the Leggetts’ work. Plus, ticket holders can meet featured fair guests, including Cari Cucksey, host of HGTV's Cash & Cari and creator of the Re•purpose Re•color paint line, and Matthew Mead, editor of Upcycled Style magazine.

“The City Farmhouse Pop-up Fairs are a great opportunity for people who love vintage and antiques, and we try to create opportunities for them to come together to collaborate and learn from one another,” Kim said. “Our shoppers truly share a passion for old pieces that can tell a story.”

The host says the theme of October’s City Farmhouse Pop-up Fair is focused on the creativity and styling ability of the vendors, all of whom search for months to find the most unusual vintage and antique “picks” for the show. In June, more than 70 vendors were represented from nearly 20 states.

Similar to the summer fair, those who shop the City Farmhouse Pop-up Fair will find the most unusual in handpicked selections spanning all eras and styles: farmhouse, French, architectural, garden, lighting, industrial, Americana and much more.

Plus, guests will enjoy live musical performances, food trucks, special guest appearances and more at the October event.

The Leggetts will continue to reveal guest appearances, performances and schedules of events in the upcoming weeks on the City Farmhouse website www.cityfarmhousefranklin.com.

The City Farmhouse Pop-up Fair kicks off October 16, 2015 from 9 a.m. until Noon, with first- chance buying, a champagne toast and a burlap carpet walk. Admission to early buying is $25.00.

General admission on October 16 is from Noon to 5 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 17. General admission for both days is $10.00.

CELEBRITY PICKERS MAKING OVER 15 SPACES IN 15 CITIES, HAVE CHOSEN CHICAGO

Kim and David Leggett Looking For Illinois Properties to Transform Into City Farmhouse Style

TENNESSEE--Kim and David Leggett--renowned “pickers,” authors and Tennessee-based interior designers--are celebrities in their own right. By way of their antiquing adventures, the duo has attracted fans from around the globe who love to follow the hunt--so much so that their brand, City Farmhouse, has gained national recognition in the likes of Architectural Digest and accumulated more than 100,000 fans on Facebook.

This week, the pair announced that they are bringing their lifestyle brand to urban homeowners across the country with the opportunity to appear in the Leggetts’ upcoming book, “City Farmhouse Style.”

Over the next several weeks, the designers will host a contest to pick 15 properties in 15 cities to completely redesign over the next several months--and they want one of those makeovers to be in Chicago, Ill.

“Farmhouse style is the fastest growing trend in decorating today. It’s conversational--each piece has a history, which means the room tells a tale too. We’re ready to bring those stories from rural farmhouses to downtown skyscrapers,” Kim Leggett said. “Chicago is perfect for this book because it’s an ever-evolving city with a long legacy. I would bet this community appreciates innovation with a bit of history tied to it.”

The Leggetts say they are looking for urban spaces under 1,200 square feet--such as row homes, high-rise apartments, lofts, townhomes, gardens, and tiny cottages--that, architecturally, one might think would not fit the farmhouse aesthetic.

To apply, applicants must have a minimum furnishings budget of $6,000 and live in an urban area in the United States. Those entries selected will receive free design services from the Leggetts, as well as a potential feature in their forthcoming book.

Each final City Farmhouse makeover will be photographed by Alyssa Rosenheck, a lifestyle photographer whose work has recently been published in Elle Décor and Coastal Living. For more details on the contest and how to apply for a City Farmhouse makeover, go to www.cityfarmhousefranklin.com.

“City Farmhouse Style” will be the Leggetts’ second published work. Their first, “Leggett’s Antiques Atlas” (Crown Publishing Group), was released in 1998 and created a treasure map to 15,000 antique shops throughout the country with supporting anecdotes and historical side trips.

As freelance interior stylists, the Leggetts’ projects have been featured in a host of major publications, from Elle Décor and Country Living to Gatherings Magazine. Kim also sells her finds to museums and private collectors--and her celebrity clientele includes the likes of Ralph Lauren, Meg Ryan, Tommy Hilfiger, Sheryl Crow, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and more.

The Leggetts first launched the City Farmhouse brand through their popular antiques and vintage shop located in Historic Downtown Franklin, Tenn., that offers modern farmhouse style for urban and rural living. In addition to curating the brick-and-mortar store, the pair have a monthly curated pop-up shop (The Fling) and manage the City Farmhouse Pop-up Fairs, their hugely popular vintage and design shopping shows.

CITY FARMHOUSE HOSTS MONTHLY POP-UP STORE AT THE FACTORY
The Fling Offers Shoppers a Unique Shopping Experience, Freshly Picked Finds and More

FRANKLIN, Tenn.—Local “pickers” and City Farmhouse store owners David and Kim Leggett have made a name within the design world of late, using their trained eye for antique and vintage pieces to establish three large-scale shopping fairs, and gather more than 100,000 page fans on Facebook.

The Franklin-based duo recently announced they have added a monthly pop-up store to their repertoire: The Fling at the Factory at Franklin, a four-day event that features recently picked displays of curated antiques and vintage finds that are unique from what shoppers may find at the Leggetts’ brick-and-mortar store on Bridge Street.

The Leggetts launched The Fling in May, with intentions to continue the event the second weekend of each month following. The next upcoming event is Thursday, July 9th through Sunday, July 12th.

Housed in a 4,000-square-foot repurposed warehouse located just off the Main Commons in the Factory—near the new Thrive Café—the innovative event stays true to the Leggetts’ desire to create an occasion in whatever they do: each vignette within the space is arranged to reflect City Farmhouse style, using the merchandise to create unique settings that will inspire shoppers.

To kick off each monthly event, the Leggetts are holding a “first-pick” preview party on Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m., providing wine, light appetizers, live music and a first-look at the goods. The shopping experience will continue Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and through Sunday, from Noon to 5 p.m.

The store owners will then close the doors, and do it all over again the following month.

Though guest should expect something new and fresh each circuit, the Leggetts taste will remain the same: farmhouse, French, architectural, industrial, Americana and the like will be artfully arranged for purchase. Plus, repurposed pieces and other found objects will add another fascinating layer to the event.

The Fling won’t affect the Leggetts’ current City Farmhouse location on Bridge Street in Downtown Franklin; the shop will remain open at regular hours during the special event.

For more information on The Fling, call 615-268-0216 or visit www.cityfarmhousefranklin.com.  For more on the Leggetts, follow the City Farmhouse Facebook page at facebook.com/cityfarmhousetn.

DOWNTOWN FRANKLIN’S CITY FARMHOUSE ANNOUNCES SUMMER POP-UP FAIR

Antique and Design Event to Feature 80+ Vendors From Across the Country,

Interactive Design Showcase, Live Music and More

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – For the last two years, the City Farmhouse Pop-up Fair has drawn visitors from around the globe to the tiny village of Leiper’s Fork, Tenn., to score antique and vintage goods from dozens of curated vendors.
Earlier this month, Kim and David Leggett—owners of the popular downtown Franklin shop from where the event derives its name—announced that due to mounting popularity, a second pop-up fair has been added June 19-20, 2015.

The Leggetts, who are nationally recognized “pickers,” say the second show was due to both attendance popularity and their fans’ requests: the pair manage the City Farmhouse Facebook page, which boasts more than 100,000 followers—many of whom lobbied for an additional show.

“We had an overwhelming amount of positive feedback after the last show,” said Kim Leggett. “It’s a great opportunity for people who love vintage and antiques to come together to collaborate and share that passion.

“The idea of hosting a second show wasn’t ours—local show-goers kept coming into the shop encouraging us to have more than one event. At first we thought it was crazy to try and put on another show, but the more we talk about it with our fans, the more encouraged we are that this one’s going to be even bigger and better than the last one!”

The host says the theme of this season’s City Farmhouse Pop-up Fair is focused on the creativity and styling ability of the vendors, all of whom search for months to find the most unusual vintage and antique “picks” for the show. Currently, vendors from 13 states are slated to exhibit their unique wares.

The design and shopping show will once again take place at the stunning “lost-in-time” gardens and mansion of the late music publisher Buddy Killen, located off Old Hillsboro Road.

Similar to last year, those who shop the City Farmhouse Pop-up Fair will find the most unusual in handpicked selections spanning all eras and styles: farmhouse, French, architectural, garden, lighting, industrial, Americana and much more. Plus, there will be live performances, food trucks, how-tos, special guest appearances and more.

New to this year’s event is an interactive design showcase, intended to inspire fair-goers on what to look for amongst the uniquely offered wares of the vendors. The showcase will feature “room-like” setting ideas for using vintage and antique pieces, and displaying collections.

Fair-goers will also have the chance to meet and interact with professional designers within the exhibit and discover unique ways to use their finds. Presenters at the showcase will include the likes of Kim Leggett, Beth Lewis of Olde Tyme Marketplace, Jason Counce of Dirt Home & Garden, and other industry leaders.

Kim Leggett says the interactive exhibition will be helpful for showcasing items that aren’t commonly used in interior design.

“Farmhouse style is one of the fastest growing trends in interior design today. More than ever, homeowners are looking for vintage and repurposed goods to decorate their homes,” she said. “The show gives them an opportunity to pick through finds from all over the country, and the interactive showcase will inspire show-goers on how to creatively style their finds in their own homes.”

The Leggetts will continue to reveal guest appearances, performances and schedules of events in the upcoming weeks on the City Farmhouse website www.cityfarmhousefranklin.com.

The City Farmhouse Pop-up Fair kicks off June 19, 2015 from 9 a.m. until Noon, with first- chance buying, a champagne toast and a burlap carpet walk. Admission to early buying is $25.00.

General admission on June 19 is from Noon to 5 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 20. General admission for both days is $10.00.

The Leggetts have also announced the dates of the annual fall Pop-up Fair, scheduled for October 16-17, 2015. More details about guest appearances, vendors and more will be announced on the website closer to the event.

2014 City Farmhouse Press Releases

2014 CITY FARMHOUSE POP-UP SHOW BOASTS BIG-NAME GUESTS, PICKER’S PARADISE
Leggetts Announce Second Annual Pop-Up Show in Leiper’s Fork, October 17-18

Those who scored a wealth of curated vintage, antique and artisan goods at last year’s City Farmhouse Pop-Up Show can rejoice! Popular Franklin-based “pickers” David and Kim Leggett are bringing back the second annual event Oct. 17-18, 2014—one that will include a number of big-name guests, more than 150 vendors from across the U.S., and a unique showcase of fantasy installations inspired from common themes in Southern Gothic literature.

This year the couple is upping the ante by hosting the design and shopping event at the stunning “lost-in-time” gardens and mansion of the late music publisher Buddy Killen (Tree/Sony Music), located off Old Hillsboro Road in Leiper’s Fork, Tenn. Attendees can expect to meet several acclaimed designers at the fall show including Matthew Mead, the official food stylist for the Associated Press and regular contributor to Better Homes and Gardens, among other noted national shelter magazines.

In addition to Mead, Nina Hartmann—a Swedish and French interior stylist, designer and author—will also headline the City Farmhouse Pop-Up Show as a celebrity guest. This will mark the first time that Hartmann, who holds a worldwide following because of her popular “VintagebyNina” books and blog, will appear in the United States. Her unique eye for design and antique goods has made her one of the most sought-after designers in Europe, and the Leggetts say the fervor around Hartmann’s participation continues to build as the word gets out.

“To have these two at the show is huge, and those who love vintage and antiques recognize what an honor it is to have them in Franklin,” Kim Leggett says. “Matthew and Nina are international superstars in the design world, and their work has been appreciated by millions. We are excited for our guests to interact and gain inspiration from them.”

Similar to last year, those who shop the 2014 show will find the most unusual in handpicked selections spanning all eras and styles: farmhouse, French, architectural, garden, lighting, industrial, Americana and much more. In addition, handmade jewelry designed and repurposed from found objects will be included in the show. Plus, there will be book signings, live music, food trucks, how-tos and more.

In addition to the shopping component, event guests are invited to experience the first-ever “Folk & Folly” exhibition inside Killen’s estate. Through "picked" items that represent the vintage and antique theme of the show, a selected group of artists, photographers and designers will transform seven of the magnificent home's abandoned rooms into Southern Gothic-type installations—a cross somewhere between Alice in Wonderland and Tim Walker's photography, Leggett says.

Artist and photographer, Erin Anderson, and antiques dealer and collector, Anna Anderson, will be transforming the upstairs gallery room into a scene loosely based on Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven.”

The “Nevermore Studio” exhibition will trace a man’s slow fall into madness after an anthropomorphic raven’s mysterious visit, and convey an artist studio which has been deeply affected by the loss of a lover—showing the struggle between sanity and insanity, darkness and light, truth and fantasy.

“Local creatives are drawing on Southern characteristics (elbow grease, resourcefulness, storytelling and play) to craft a unique showcase within this timeworn mansion,” Kim said. “Show guests will be able to lose themselves within the rooms… hopefully sparking inspiration, generating curiosity and exploring connection.”

Pickers for more than 20 years, the Leggetts’ trained eyes and vivacious personalities have attracted a following from around the globe, evidenced by the 80,000-plus Facebook fans that the brand’s page heralds. The couple recently introduced a redesign of the City Farmhouse blog, a source for “American and French urban and rural stylin’ ideas and polished pickin’.”

The site will serve as a platform for the Leggetts to share their antique and design expertise, and it will embrace a wealth of topics from curated antique finds and do-it-yourself designs to popular vintage trends and City Farmhouse advice. Readers will also find fresh news and additions to the Pop-Up Show.

The City Farmhouse Pop-Up Show will take place Friday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 18 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A private luncheon with ticket holders will be held on the Killen grounds on Saturday, with a performance by Kirsten Copely, who has charmed audiences at Carnegie Hall, performed with big names like Beyoncé and Kayne West.

LEGGETTS RE-LAUNCH CITY FARMHOUSE BLOG AFTER MUCH DEMAND
Pickin’ Celebrities Offer Fans Behind-The-Scenes Look Into Their Lives

FRANKLIN, Tenn.—Less than two years ago, Kim Leggett created a Facebook account because she had heard that the social networking site could produce valuable dividends for her antique shop on Bridge Street in downtown Franklin, Tenn.

Today the City Farmhouse page has gathered more than 77,000 Facebook fans, all of which follow along to hear about Kim and David Leggett’s “picking” trips, interior design projects and home styling tips.

After much demand, the pair has found another creative outlet to share inspiration: this month, the Leggetts introduced a redesign of the City Farmhouse blog—a source “to American and French countryside stylin’ and polished pickin’.”

The site will serve as a platform for the Leggetts to share their 20-plus years of antique and design expertise, and embrace a wealth of topics from curated antique finds and do-it-yourself designs to popular vintage trends and City Farmhouse advice.

“The best part of Facebook, and social media, is that you get to engage with people. My favorite part is creating relationships and bouncing ideas off of one another,” Kim said. “We hope that the blog becomes a spinoff of that: a place for us to share our experiences, and a go-to reference of design inspiration for our readers.”

According to the brand’s Facebook page, the Leggetts already enjoy a worldwide following: the account has fans from all corners of the globe. With that in mind, Kim says she also hopes to use the blog to bring attention to Tennessee and the Southern antique-ing culture.

In conjunction with their efforts to engage their customers and take the brand to the next level, the pair also announced a monthly City Farmhouse newsletter. Designed to keep customers up-to-date on all happenings, events and merchandise at the Franklin antique shop, the newsletter is slated to make its debut this week. Interested individuals can signup on the City Farmhouse blog.
